Small quibble:

You wrote that "What is revealed in this manipulation of consultation data is that without the submissions sent using the CCER letter wizard there is very little representation of the average Canadian consumer..."

However, what was said was, in essence:
"Of the 25% we sampled, we eliminated any submission that was by an average Canadian consumer, and hey, look! 90% of the remaining submissions are in favor of strong copyright."

So, that paragraph says that, within that sample, 90% of individual submissions by creators and distributors show that they are in favor of strong copyright, not that 90% of all individual submissions in that sample are by creators and distributors and in favor of strong copyright.

So, there is plenty of representation of average Canadian consumers even without the form letters. Our IP lawyer just didn't consider our opinions worth taking note of.

I'm not Canadian but I wish you guys luck in the process. Not CCER but to all Canadians.

I've read TF's article about this, both this response and Mr Geist response and they were very sensible. From Mr Owen's comments we can reach 3 conclusions: he's ignorant about the issue, he's just voicing the opinions of the pro-copyright groups (therefore he's biased) or both.
